New information about a Treasure Coast teacher who ignited controversy nationwide when she let her kindergartners vote an autistic student out of class.
A school district spokeswoman says Wendy Portillo has less than one month to go on her suspension without pay. It ends November 18.
They haven't said when or where she'll be teaching just yet.
Last year while Portillo was a kindergarten teacher at Morningside Elementary in Port St. Lucie she had her students vote a five year old boy out of their class because he was being disruptive.
The boy, Alex Barton, who has a form of autism, now attends a private school and his mother is suing the school system.
