DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A 20-year-old man is in jail after, police say, he shot his 17-year-old cousin in the chest while playing with a handgun.
David Durista told police he didn't know the gun was loaded when he pointed it at his cousin, James Williams, and pulled the trigger.
Durista and Williams were hanging out with friends at a home at 148 SW 14th Avenue at about 9:44 p.m. Monday when the shooting occurred. Witnesses told police Durista stood there in shock after the gun went off. Williams ran out of the room and collapsed in the yard.
Williams was taken to Delray Beach Medical Center where he died.
