ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX)-- It was like a moving crime scene with dozens of sheriff's cruisers and deputies.
But these were no perpetrators. They were kids on a mission to shop with a cop.
The Super Target in Royal Palm Beach was filled to the brim with nearly 200 children who qualified for a $125 Target gift certificate and a $100 dollar certificate from Publix.
The only requirement for these pint-size shoppers, buy some gifts for family members too.
"I got selected for this shopping experience and I am so grateful that I got selected," said Isiah Colon.
"Shop with a cop is an important event. It enables kids to go shopping who really need it," said Carol Verdigi with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Kids were seen comparison shopping during the spree. The most popular items were in electronics.
But the smiles were not only found in their faces, Deputies enjoyed every minute of it too.
"Thank you so much. This is very nice, something I was dreaming of," said 8-year-old Jazlyn Estevez of West Palm Beach.
Since 1987, deputies have raised money to help sponsor children for this event.
