STUART, FL (WFLX) - The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is going after a construction company from Indiantown citing them for two violations in a fatal crash last August on Cove Road near Stuart.
OSHA is hitting Sheltra and Son Construction with almost $6,000 in fines for two violations in August.
Sheltra was doing a road-widening project on Cove Road, one of its workers was operating a front-end loader in the wee hours of the morning, when a Jeep Grand Cherokee with three teens inside slammed into it, killing all three: Nicholas Coady of Stuart, Christopher Briglio of Tequesta, both 18, and Connor Graver, 16, of Hobe Sound.
OSHA has cited Sheltra and Son for failing to do frequent and regular inspections of the job site, materials and equipment by a competent person.
And, secondly, failing to have seat belts on the front-end loader.
A woman who answered the phone at Sheltra and Son Construction said they had no comment.
The FHP says all three teens had been drinking, and they have determined where they got the alcohol, but say they cannot release details on that until they turn their findings over to the state attorney's office. The FHP says that should occur within a week or so.
