The family of a 15-year-old girl, arrested in Ft. Pierce for violating the city's new teen curfew, are now accusing police of brutality. We have the video of the arrest posted on your left.
Ft. Pierce Police Officer Daniel Gilroy says he ordered Shewanda Riley 10 times to stop resisting arrest. The teen refused and cried out for her mother. At one point, she bit the officer. He in return punches her.
The chief says Officer Gilroy knew the whole time he was being recorded.
Ft. Pierce's Police Chief Sean Baldwin says, "It's shocking, but disappointing, given the officer tried to arrest her for 10 minutes with her fighting him. And then she bit his arm. At that point, he was justified in his use of force."
