  • Jay has covered a wide range of stories in his career as a journalist. He was one of the first reporters to hit the ground in Haiti hours after the disastrous earthquake of January 2010 and was on the white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle following the devastating Gulf oil spill which eventually took him to the Keys.
  • Shannon Cake's work has changed policies in guardrail protection along Florida's busiest roadways, pushed local legislation that has influenced restaurant cleanliness, and exposed government waste when it comes to Medicare spending.
  • John has received a number of local and regional awards at the various places in which he has worked through the years for his reporting and his involvement with various charitable organizations in the community.
  • Roxanne is proud to be a farmer's daughter. Though her roots in agriculture run deep, she always wanted to be in the news business. Not to be "on TV" necessarily, but to be in a newsroom, covering the events that shape and change our world.

Career highlights include 2004 Hurricane Frances, where he was on air almost continuously for 67 hours, and 2004 Hurricane Jeanne exactly three weeks later.
  • Kait is thrilled to be in South Florida, where the weather presents a constant challenge and the beach provides a great escape. When Kait isn't at NewsChannel 5, she loves spending time at the dog beach with "Bruce", reading a good book and creating fabulous new dishes in the kitchen.

    Within Bay's first few months of working in television, Hurricane Floyd struck Eastern North Carolina. The 1999 storm left behind one of the deadliest floods in state history. It seems natural disasters and severe weather have played a major role in Bay's award-winning career ever since.
  • James grew up in South Florida, where he developed a passion for the weather. After attending Florida State University, James had to adjust to the icy weather conditions in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There he was the Chief Meteorologist at WDTV and had to learn how to dig his car out of the snow.
  • After graduating from the University of Maryland, Glenn moved to south Florida permanently in the early 1990's. He then continued his, already established, broadcasting career as a DJ at several local radio stations, as well as being a news editor.

  • Miachel is an eight-time Emmy award winner as well as a recipient of the prestigious duPont-Columbia Award for reporting he did in Haiti. In addition, Michael has been honored with the Silver Circle award from the Suncoast Chapter of NATAS (the Emmy organization) for more than 25 years of outstanding work in South Florida broadcasting.
  • Kelley began her career of covering South Florida two months after receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting from the University of Florida in 1985. Starting out as a reporter; Kelley was promoted to anchor within six months.

  • I didn't use the ice scraper on my drive to South Florida. I wanted to watch the snow and ice that had accumulated in Upstate New York, melt. After three years at WROC in Rochester, two years at a station in Syracuse and four years at Ithaca College, I was ready to get warm.

    Before making the journey to beaches of sunny South Florida, Jeff spent more than two years baring the relentless rains of the Pacific Northwest. Jeff was a lead reporter at KEZI-TV in Eugene, Oregon covering high-profile court cases, the foiled terrorist bombing attempt, the 2011 tsunami evacuation of the Pacific Coast and severe weather events such as a tornado that ripped through a town.
  • Ashleigh grew up in California and Colorado.  She has spent years volunteering with many non-profit organizations, including DotGreen and the Junior League of Denver.  She loves to travel, paint, take photographs, read and play at the beach.
  • Alex is a South Florida native who studied broadcast journalism at Florida International University in Miami. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism from the University System of Maryland. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizens' Academy - Houston Division.
  • He started at Fox 29 in 2011 and is thrilled to be in South Florida where he can go on scenic runs year around. He's an avid sports fan and of network news programs i.e. Rock Center and 60 Minutes.

  • Dan holds degrees from both the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Dan is happy to be back reporting the news on the east coast and also back in the same time zone as his family.
  • Marissa was the crime reporter in Spokane, Washington where she covered a rash of high-profile police shootings and an attempted bombing at an MLK Jr. Day parade. She also won an Edward R. Murrow award in 2009.
  • After his Navy service, Mike graduated from Temple University with a broadcast journalism degree. He reported for two years at WBNG-TV in the upstate New York city of Binghamton. His flood coverage in 2006 helped contribute to the station's award by the New York Associated Press for Best Continuing News Coverage.
  • Katie LaGrone is an award-winning investigative journalist whose reports have been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. She was the first broadcast journalist to expose restaurants serving customers substitute fish but calling it grouper. The investigation spawned an international investigation by the Food and Drug Administration. The report also won Katie her first National Edward R. Murrow Award.
