PORT ST LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - Police say he promised her she could be a model and enticed a Georgia woman to his Port St. Lucie home. Then, the woman claims she was trapped inside.
The 20 year-old from Georgia says it all took place at a home in Port St. Lucie. She met the renter on Myspace. He promised her she could model.
Police say Thuron Hammersley pretended to be a talent scout. Once the 20 year-old was in his rented home, she says she couldn't leave.
Thuron took her cell phone, she was locked in a room at times, and she says she was too intimidated to leave. While in the home for 10 days, she says Thuron raped her twice.
Finally, she made a break for it on Friday and broke through a window in the back of the home and took off for police.
Neighbors in the quaint part of Port St. Lucie can't believe the news. Neighbor, John Keysers, says, "It's very shocking, whether it's true or not, anything is possible you will never know."
Tom Nichols with the Port St. Lucie Police Department says, "Behind a computer anybody can portray who they want to be."
Police warn everyone to be careful on social networking sites. Be leery of people on the other side of the monitor and what they are promising.
Neighbors say Hammersley has a wife and two kids. Police tell us his wife was at home during part of last week.
