JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - There's a special edition living at the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter. It's all in an effort to replace the thousands of dollars stolen from the sanctuary just a few weeks ago.
"Right now is a difficult time for us. Finances are down, donations are not coming in like they normally do. We lost some cash donations," said David Hitzig of the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.
Innocent animals victimized by thieves who made off with $13,000, so the Buzz 103 decided to send in West Palm's very own super hero, Batnails.
He moved into the deer and turkey preserve Monday morning. "The first night I got here, I got into a little scuffle with the male deer. He just wanted to show his dominance. So now, we're best friends."
Who won? "He did," said Batnails.
One of Batnails jobs is feeding the animals, and, throughout the day and night, he talks with Buzz listeners online. Some of them even bring him food.
"He's taken on this mission personally, and it's kind of neat to see the whole transformation of Batnails. He's learning so much, and he's really sharing with the public, and in his own, quirky way, he's really getting that conservation message out," said David Hitzig.
The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is able to provide their services to nearly 4,000 injured wildlife animals every year through your donations.
Batnails will be at the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Friday until 10 a.m. You can also watch him live 24/7 on the Buzz 103's Web site.
