Tour the Spelling mansion

LOS ANGELES (WFLX) - There's one piece of real estate that's not bowing to the recession, and it's not on Palm Beach. It's the Spelling mansion.

Candy Spelling, wife of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling, has put it on the market for a cool $150 million making it most expensive home for sale in the U.S. It's also the largest home in LA.

But before the 'for sale' sign goes up, Candy Spelling lets you take a tour on her 56,000 square feet. She even admits, she's not sure how many room she's got! "The truth is I didn't understand drawings. And the rooms looked small to me, so I kept making them bigger and bigger."

The house has multiple living rooms, eating areas, four bars and more bathrooms than Candy can count. "There are either 23 or 26 bathrooms."

And it wouldn't be Hollywood without a screening room. The screen rises out of the floor while paintings slide up to reveal the projectors. "You can go this way to the doll museum or this way to the bowling alley." And after bowling, there are more games - even a personal pinball machine.

"This is what the fuss is all about," said Ms. Spelling as she describes one of the homes most famous features - the gift wrapping room.

Candy Spelling has had the place to herself since her husband's death three years ago. Aaron Spelling was one of the most prolific TV producers of all time.  "My husband, when a tour bus came, he would go out and shake hands with all the fans. And, I'd say, 'Why are you doing that?' He'd say, 'Cause they built this house'".

Spelling is 'down-sizing' to a $50 million condo. And, her dog, Madison, played a key role in picking the real estate agent. If Madison didn't like the candidate, they were scratched off the list.
