Fourth Grader Excited About Opera

Opera is something that generally appeals to a more adult crowd.

It's not often that you see children getting involved at a young age.

But ten year old Marguerite Elise Pollingue  of Palm Beach Gardens is loving it. She's appearing in the Palm Beach Opera's LaBoheme this weekend.

She's a 4th grader at the Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, and her family's fascination with the opera goes back many years to her parents and grandparents who were avid supporters of the opera in Puerto Rico.  She's seen a number of operas, but has never been in one until now.

"I like it because you get to learn more about like different time periods and who wrote it and what they were feeling. My first opera, I thought it was really really cool. So ever since, then I've wanted to be in one,"  Pollingue said.

There are five  performances of LaBoheme this weekend at the Kravis Center, including a family matinee Saturday afternoon with ticket prices as low as $5 for children.
