COPY-Hundreds line up for solar energy plant jobs

INDIANTOWN, Fla. (AP) - Hundreds of people are lining up for a job fair on Florida's East Coast, where officials will begin hiring 1,100 workers to build a solar power plant.

By 6 a.m. Friday, hundreds had already lined up. An Abilene, Texas-based construction company anticipates completing the $400 million Florida Power and Light facility by the end of 2010.

Opportunities at the job fair include carpenters, pipe fitters, plumbers, electricians and assembly workers. Applications will be taken 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Timer Power Park, 14100 Citrus Blvd., Indiantown - or people can apply online at
