Greene About to Leave

The only African-American on the Palm Beach County Commission is about to step down.
Addie Greene, District 7 commissioner, leaves next week after eight years as a county commissioner.
During that time, three of her colleagues resigned and were convicted of federal corruption charges.   Tony Masilotti, Warren Newell, and Mary McCarty.

Greene feels her biggest accomplishment has been bringing black elected leaders together, and getting them all acquainted and working toward the same goals.

"It has been nothing but fun for me.  Even though I came down with cancer.  I think that was God's way of sending a message to me it was time to step down,"  said Greene.

Greene, 66, says she was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. She's now cancer-free, but on the advice of her doctor she is stepping down to avoid any further stress.
Her last day on the job will be next Thursday. The governor has not named anyone to replace her.
