Authorities Search for Two Killer Dogs

By Al Pefley email

Lantana, FL (WFLX)

The search is on for two killer dogs that attacked and mauled a smaller dog, killing it last week in suburban Lantana.

Bandit,  a five year old Pomeranian,  was attacked last Thursday April 23 on Autumn Ridge Road, in the Indian Pines Estates neighborhood near the corner of Jog and Lantana Road.

Photos of the dog are posted in the neighborhood.

Authorities say Bandit was attacked by two bigger dogs. One is described as a tan and white floppy eared pit bull. The other is a red chow. Bandit's owner says his teenage daughter witnessed the attack. He asked that we not use his name.

"The pit bull got him around the back of the neck, shook him to try to kill him or knock him out. She started screaming. It's just heartbreaking! It really is," he said.

"This is horrible. This is one of the worst things we can imagine happening to a little tiny dog like this," said Capt. David Walesky with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.

After the attack last Thursday, the two dogs ran off,  one of them still clenching Bandit's limp body in its jaws. Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control wants to the find the two dogs, or their owner, before they do this again.  They say the two dogs are a threat to other pets and children in that area.
