RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Authorities worked a crime scene late Monday night on the drive way of the V.A. Hospital in Riviera Beach after a man drove himself there after being shot.

He claimed he was the victim of an attempted robbery in Riviera Beach, but, police say, he was not shot there. Instead, he may have been fleeing a shooting scene in suburban West Palm Beach.

That's where deputies, patrolling the area near Southern Boulevard and Benoist Farms Road, were flagged down by men who were trying to rush their friend to the hospital after he was shot on nearby 70th Avenue North. That man had to be airlifted to the hospital because of his injuries.

About 30 minutes later and nearly 13 miles away, the other man drove himself to the V.A. claiming he was shot by would-be robbers who were trying to steal his car speakers.

Turns out his Green Dodge matches the description of a car leaving the 70th Avenue North crime scene.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation; although, they are not 100 percent sure that both cases are related.

The first shooting victim underwent surgery Monday night and was in critical condition.

The other was treated and released from the hospital and was being questioned by Sheriff's detectives late Monday night.
