BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - Call him the miracle dog: A Chocolate Lab is still alive after jumping off a three-story Boca Raton building.

Witnesses say the dog wander around the third floor and suddenly jumped. "We just tried to keep him calm and keep him from moving," said security guard Matthew Marsicano. "When it started to rain, myself and another employee slid him onto a pad to move him out of the rain, so we could keep him dry."

Marsicano called 911, and police responded alongside officials with the Tri-County Humane Society. They took the injured dog to the Clint Moore Animal Hospital. "It's gums were pale. His pulse was thready; he was real shockey. He was having difficult respiration. I was very, very nervous, and I didn't know what to think. I thought he was going to die," said veterinarian Dr. Brian K. Butzer.

The pooch was given emergency treatment, and within a half hour, vets started noticing a change. "It was like a miracle when we started to notice that he was coming around," described Dr. Butzer. "I was actually getting really relieved. And then it got better. We started taking some radiography's. And we didn't see any broken bones and not much internal damage."

The only damage Lucky sustained was some bruising to his liver, kidneys and lungs.

Now, vets say all he needs is medicine and some tender loving care.

Lucky does have a microchip, but the vets have not been able to trace it back to his owner. He's expected to stay at the Clint Moore Animal Hospital for another three to four days. Hopefully, by then, his owners will be found.
