LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - The young man who killed his Lake Worth middle school teacher nine years ago is now asking to be let out of prison.

Nathaniel Brazill granted FOX 29's Al Pefley his first television interview in four years. Brazill, who is now 22, was just 13 years old when he pulled out a gun and shot his teacher, Barry Grunow.

Brazill was composed throughout the entire interview talking about why he should be granted clemency, but he lost his composure when talking about his teacher.

"Mr. Grunow, he was a great guy. He was a good teacher, overall good teacher," said Brazill.

Pefley asked, "You still get sort of choked up about him?"

Brazill replied, "Yes."

Pefley asked, "Why is that?"

Brazill said, "His blood is somethin' that stains my hands, and to think of the person that he was, and to think that I'm the reason that he's not there with his family, I'm the cause that he's not out there with members of the community."

Brazill is serving a 28-year sentence for second-degree murder at a prison in Arcadia. The former prosecutor who tried his case says his chances of getting out are slim to none.
