JELL-O wrestling on Peanut Island?

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Holiday weekends are always a big time at Peanut Island: boaters, swimmers and partiers.

But on Memorial Day, our chopper discovered an interesting sight in the middle of it all. When our cameras zoomed in, we found a crowd gathered near a tent at the sandbar.

A man, in the middle of the crowd, begins counting down. Then, two women break into a fight. Witnesses on the scene tell us they were JELL-O wrestling. We don't know that for sure, but it didn't look like a serious fight. No one was trying to break them up, and the sheriff's office says they had no reports of any problems on Peanut Island.

Believe it or not, Peanut Island is more tame now than it was 10 years ago. In 1999, Palm Beach County opened Peanut Island Park to bring a little sanity to the free-wheeling party place.

By the way, Peanut Island got its name because of a plan to use it as a terminal for shipping peanut oil. The plan never got off the ground, but the name stuck.
