City Place implementing new parking fees

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The hundreds of employees who earn a living at City Place will soon have to dip into their earnings to pay for parking. But they are not giving in without a fight.

Part time and full time employees will have to start paying anywhere from $40 - $50 a month to park. That's effective Monday, June 1.

City Place management says an important component of providing the best possible customer experience is making sure we provide customers with easily accessible parking which has increasingly become a challenge given the garages often reach capacity on weekend nights.

So as a result, management has reevaluated the entire parking system, and is now requiring employees to park at an alternate parking site on Okeechobee Boulevard every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

They believe relocating employee parking on key traffic nights will enhance access to garages for customers freeing up hundreds of parking spaces in the Hibiscus garage.

Now, both full time and part time employees will be able to park at the on-site garages Sunday through Wednesday.

Full time employees will be offered an unlimited monthly parking pass for $40 a month, and part time employees will be offered a 10 pass coupon book good for 10 days of parking for $25.

Even though, we're told, security will be available to provide walking escorts 24-7, employees still feel their safety will be at risk. That's one of the reasons they will be protesting the new parking policy from 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday along Okeechobee Boulevard.
