Exotic Car Dealership Opens Soon, Despite Recession

We're in the midst of what some have called the worst recession in decades.

One might wonder if this is the right time to open a new car dealership.

Well Ferrari thinks so, because it's opening a new one, right here in West Palm Beach.

The new dealership going up on Okeechobee Boulevard doesn't have any new cars in stock yet. But they say they've had hundreds of calls from people, asking when the expensive sportscars will arrive from Italy.   They start in the low $200,000 price range.

One dealership official says they're not worried about opening during a recession, because potential Ferrari buyers don't seem to be affected much by the economic downturn.

"I'm happy to say that our confidence is high. This is a Ferrari store and it will succeed in Palm Beach County," said Dan Diamond, spokesman  for Ferrari of Palm Beach.

Diamond says the new two-story building won't be ready until December, but they hope to be selling Ferrari's beginning next month or early August out of a Maserati showroom at the same site.
