Sunday's shooting death of an abortion doctor at a church in Kansas is having an impact here in south Florida.

A police car sits outside the Presidential Women's Center on 45th Street  in West Palm Beach, just two days after an abortion doctor was murdered in Kansas.

The victim of that shooting, Dr. George Tiller, was a dear friend of the woman in charge of the Presidential Women's Center.

She says Tiller was a man of great kindness, and she knew him for nearly 30 years.

"He was a great family man and I would think that most of all, what he would want people to know about him was his commitment to family and his commitment to his church," said Mona Reis, director  of the Presidential Women's Center.  She says Tiller was one of only three doctors in the U.S. who performed late-term abortions and she has referred patients to him at various times.

Reis told us she plans to attend Dr. Tiller's funeral this weekend.

Her facility is the only abortion clinic in Palm Beach County, and it was damaged by fire in July 4, 2005.

It was ruled arson, but no arrest was ever made.
