Martin Co. family return after witnessing Holocaust Museum shooting

Posted by Rachel Leigh - email

MARTIN COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A woman from Martin County and her family are back in South Florida Friday morning after getting caught up in the shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.

Gloria Sedule and her family arrived Thursday night at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. They were on the fourth floor when a guard stormed in telling everyone to leave.

She says no one realized something serious was happening until the guard told them to get out.

On the ground a guard was dying. The gunman, 88-year-old James Von Brunn, was injured.

He's now charged in Stephen Johns' murder.

Despite the tragic situation, Gloria is hoping what happened can be turned into something positive.

She believes the security guard that escorted them out saved their lives and the people that were in the museum.
