BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Two construction workers are back on the ground safe and sound after an accident left them dangling from a Boynton Beach building Thursday.

The workers were working on some windows when their catwalk gave way out from under them. "They ended up dangling in their safety harnesses," said Steve Lewis, Boynton Beach Fire Rescue. The scaffolding landing at about a 45-degree angle.

According to Boynton Beach Fire Rescue, the workers fell about 8 to 10 feet before their harnesses caught them.

One ending up dangling near the eighth floor; the other falling further to the seventh. "It's always jolting when you see something like that, but nothing jolted us as much as jolted them today [Thursday]," Lewis said.

Rescue crews jumping into action, and were able to pull one worker through a nearby window within minutes. The other man, however, left hanging on a bit longer. "He was calm, cool, collected and just remained calm throughout the rescue, and we were able to take our 100 foot truck and left the bucket up underneath of him and put him in the bucket and bring him back down safely."

Fire rescue says both stayed level-headed throughout the whole rescue. "Anybody in a situation like that may be fearful for their lives. But if they do this for a living, they may be used to it, and they certainly trust their gear, so they trusted their safety harnesses, and that's probably what kept them nice and calm."

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue says that calmness did help out in this situation. We're told that both workers were not injured, and that they actually went back to work when they were once again on the ground!
