Group Plans to Paint Five Homes in One Day

A neighborhood that could use a makeover is getting one.

A small army of volunteers are determined to turn their city block into something they all can be really proud of.

So they're pulling out their tools, and working on five houses that they feel could use a little attention.

Some of the places have some rotted wood that needs to be replaced, so they're doing that first before painting the homes.

All five houses are in the 1100 block of West 26th Court in Riviera Beach, a part of town known as Monroe Heights.

"The goal is to get people working together to beautify their own community. This is just a starting point. We're gonna move throughout Monroe Heights,"  said Amon Yisrael, a member of the Westside Civic Association.

A group called Paint Your Heart Out is donating paint and some supplies.

About 30 volunteers will be painting the five houses on Saturday beginning at 8 A.M.  Yisrael  says they could use more help.   Call (561) 719-9527 for more information.
