JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - They came from all the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast to impress the judges.
"We're really looking for people with great personalities who have amazing talent," said Artistic Director Andrew Kato with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
Kato listens and provides feedback for each contestant trying out for Palm Beach Idols, a competition held every year at the Maltz.
One of the contestants who's 'going to Jupiter' is 16-year-old Hailee Sapp. "I practiced really hard, so I just wanted to do it perfect."
Another contestant, Gail Beyer, who's been down on our lucky lately, finds out she made the cut, too. "I've been unemployed for awhile, and something clicked in me. And it was meant to be I am to go forward and try and do everything I can to use all my talents and all my gifts.
For some, Palm Beach Idols is away to get their name out there. For others, like Emily Ranasco, it's just for fun. "I don't really care about the winning. I just do it because I want to have fun. I think it's just really fun, and I hope everyone does well."
Palm Beach Idols is Saturday, July 25 at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. There will be three categories: youth, teen and adult. Each category will have three winners decided by panel of local celebrity judges. The final winners will then be determined by an audience vote.
