CAPE CANAVERAL, FL (WFLX) - 3...2..1 liftoff! It took six attempts, but finally Space Shuttle Endeavor headed up for a sixteen day mission and five space walks.

This hasn't been an easy launch for NASA. The mission halted 6 times for a liquid hydrogen leaks and bad weather. The crew is headed up for a crucial mission, bringing a key component for Japan's Kibo Science lab.

In all Wednesday a smooth launch except for several pieces of debris seen falling off an external fuel tank hitting the shuttle. Astronauts and NASA officials will now survey the shuttle from space and from the ground to make sure nothing was damaged. NASA officials say it is normal for some debris to fall off during launch, but this is the most they have seen in recent lift-offs.
