MIAMI, FL (WFLX) - Authorities are investigating more than a dozen horse killings in South Florida.
The latest horse was found mutilated along a rural Miami road, on the edge of the Everglades. The animal was privately owned, and stolen from its home.
Police say two other mutilated horses were found several months ago in Miramar. They believe the culprits are butchering the animals for their meat, which is toxic. Certain drugs are pumped into horses, and these drugs stay in meat.
The offender will face some serious jail time. Officials believe the horse meat is being sold on the black market since the sale of horse meat is illegal in the U.S. No arrests have been made.
