(WFLX) - A 5-month-old baby is found dead in the backseat of his mother's hot car.

Vero Beach Police say they got the call at 5 p.m. Thursday. "We received a 911 call from a male who said he was in the parking lot, and there was a woman crying hysterically," said Officer John Morrison.

Police believe a man was just passing this building on Indian River Boulevard and 17 Street when he saw Stephanie Werking crying.

She says she found her 5-month-old son, Gannon, dead in the backseat of her hot Ford Edge. Police confirmed that upon arriving on scene - never performing CPR. "We do have a deceased child male," said another Vero Beach officer.

Officers say Werking went to work at a bio-tech company inside the building on Indian River Boulevard around 8:30 Thursday morning. Police now say little Gannon was in the hot car all day long. "Obviously, the victim had to be in the car sometime. He was deceased," said Morrison. "Heat is definitely a factor in the incident. We won't know until we investigate further."

An autopsy will now be performed on Gannon. Right now, no charges have been filed against anyone. Detectives say it's just the beginning of the investigation.

The mother, father and the passerby are all being questioned by police.
