Roadside memorial set on fire

VERO BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A young girl's roadside memorial was set on fire just one day before her funeral and Fire Investigators say they will never know who did it.

Seven-year-old Alana Smith was killed in a car crash last Monday in Vero Beach. Her Grandmother was behind the wheel of the family's SUV, when she ran a stop sign and collided with a truck.

Family and friends set up a roadside memorial to remember the little girl, who was getting ready to go into the second grade. Early Friday morning they got a call, that the tribute was in flames.

Indian River Fire Rescue, responded to that fire, telling fox 29 there were no witnesses and they won't be following up with an arson investigation.

The little girl's mother is devastated, and the family has since put up a new memorial.
