WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - It's been nearly three years since Jane Tackaberry was savagely murdered in her home while her 6-year-old grandson was viciously attacked.
On Thursday, a Palm Beach County judge sentenced Rhonda Norman to life in prison.
"We were robbed in this Palm Beach County courtroom," said John Tackaberry, who was Jane Tackaberry's son. "We were robbed."
This, after the jury that convicted her recommended the death penalty.
Norman and Wes MeGee stabbed Tackaberry to death in her West Palm Beach home while also brutally injuring her grandson in August of 2006.
Family and friends came as far as Minnesota to be in the courtroom Thursday.
The judge told family members they would have an opportunity to read letters; however, that never happened. The day they waited three years for didn't come with the closure they hoped for.
"It's not just about the sentence. It's about us not having a voice ever," said Stephanie Rinzel who is Tackabarry's daughter.
McGee has also been sentenced to life in prison.
