Make a Wish brings smiles to a New Jersey family

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX)- A more than one thousand mile trip across the country is just what the doctor ordered for a New Jersey family. Their 4-year-old twin sons have been through a lot; one with a rare form of cancer, and the other with autism.

"Love your kids, you don't know how long you'll have them," advice from Pete Jacobs, the father of twin boys. "Just don't believe that God puts things in front of you that he doesn't expect you to deal with."

4-year-old George has spent one out of ever four days of his short life in a hospital. Today a break from all that thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation. "He stood with his Wall-e pillow and his Wall-e blanket and said "are you going to take me to see Wall-e."

However it wasn't easy to find Wall-e. It brought this New Jersey family all the way to Boca Raton. It started with an email; it was a shot in the dark. Mr. Newman, and local robot collector, responded within 10 minutes and said "come on down we'd love to have you".

Little George had his wish granted, being face to face with a replica of the Disney movie star. Things haven't been easy for this family. With both of their sons needing special attention their finances are strained. The robot collector, who opened up his home to this family is just an adult gladly sharing his toys. George's parents say the cancer will likely return but it has gone into remission for now. The family is spending the rest of their Florida vacation in Cocoa Beach.
