Scam Warning from Police

Police in Juno Beach are sending out a warning. Two men are acting like a good samaritans, but they are really just con-artists. To make matters worse they are targeting the elderly. The latest incident happened in a quiet corner of the Thirsty Turtle off of Donald Ross and U-S 1 Saturday night. An elderly woman pulled over and stopped her car because two men told her that her tire was on fire. They offered to help. The men sprayed a foam to put out the so called fire. The foam got on the woman's hand. They told her it could burn her and she needed to take off her rings. She did and they took off. A similar scam happened at an empty bank parking lot in Jupiter. There is surveillance video of that crime. Police are contacting other police departments in the north county area to see if this has happened to anyone else. We've seen different variations of this crime throughout our area. Police are advising drivers to only stop their cars in areas where there are other people and they feel safe.
