Dunbar rape suspect pleads guilty

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Avion T. Lawson has plead guilty to the following:

  • Burglary with assault or battery with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Kidnapping with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Kidnapping a victim under 13 with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Counts of sexual battery by multiple perpetrators with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Promoting the sexual performance of a child with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Grand theft auto with a firearm while wearing a mask
  • Impairing or impeding telephones in the Dunbar Village Rape Case.

In June of 2007, authorities say Avion Lawson, along with others, lured a mother and her son outside of their apartment, then forced them back into their home and victimized them for hours.

Co-defendants Tommy Poindexter and Nathan Walker are scheduled to begin their trial on August 18th. Co-defendant Jakaris Taylor is set for trial on September 15.
