Thieves steal $8,000 dollars worth of cigarettes

Early Monday morning Boca Raton Police responded to an alarm at a Boca Raton Publix located at 7431 North Federal Highway. When officers got to the scene, they found the front doors to the Publix smashed.

The store's video surveillance caught most of what happened on tape. Four white males, wearing masks, break an exterior camera. They then cut through the padlock on the gate covering the glass doors. The suspects then smash the glass doors, enter the store and went directly to the cigarette counter. They broke the glass counters where the cigarettes were located and loaded them into trash bags they had brought with them. The cigarettes were valued at about $8,000. The suspects then left the store. A witness saw them get into a dark SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition, and drive west on Hidden Valley Boulevard.

If anyone has information about this crime, they are asked to call Detective Tim Kurdys at (561) 338-1377 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-8477.
