Mother of missing person has renewed hope

GREENACRES (WFLX)--It's an amazing story getting attention from parents and children across the county and our area.

A missing California girl reunited with her family after being held captive for 18 years.

Her story of escaping her kidnapper brings hope to a local Mother who's daughter has been missing for 25 years.  Kristy Luna vanished on Memorial Day weekend in 1984.

"I see these cases that are solved and I think oh my gosh could Kristy come home," said Jennie Johnson, who is Kristy's mother." I just hope it's nothing like that."

Eight-year-old Kristy and a friend were lured into a Greenaces park bathroom by a man who said there where coins inside.  Little Kristy was never seen again.

"The California case proves to everybody that just because its been a really long time it doesn't me the child is deceased," said Nancy McBride who is the national safety director for the Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Investigators do believe this case could be solved very soon.  If you have any information about Kristy crime stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
