WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A house, 11 people called home, goes up in flames Sunday destroying all of their belongings.
Thankfully, three of the 11 family members were not sleeping in that house Sunday night. The father and homeowner, Dieulifaite Laloi, says if they had been, they likely would not have made it out alive.
Laloi and his family have moved into a local hotel. He and his two sons only have the clothes on their back. Five-year-old Jason plays with the hotel hangers because his toys were destroyed.
"Everything in the house - gone," said Laloi who works as a security guard. He was asleep Sunday night when he woke up to the smell of smoke.
It was pitch black. He grabbed his 3-year-old son, Zaro, and ran outside. He says the smoke was too thick - the flames had already reached the ceiling - to give him time to search for the rest of his family members. "What I do; I just get up and grab him and run out. There's one thing I can do. Just run out."
He had no idea what he would find when he got outside. But, to his surprise, he saw that all 11 of them had made it out safely. "When I see all of them outside, they not die in there. Well, I think, about the things inside. But I feel a little better because I see everyone, all of them outside. None of us not die, not get hurt."
