Thief pedals away with 1,500 pills from Boynton pharmacy
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (AP) - Police in Palm Beach County have arrested a man, they say, robbed a pharmacy of more than 1,500 pills at gunpoint and fled on a bicycle.
Boynton Beach police said they caught 19-year-old James Lachenauer Jr. on Monday while his mother was driving him to a store. He is charged with armed robbery and trafficking oxycodone and hydrocodone. Both are strong pain relievers.
Police said Lachenauer was armed with a revolver and entered the pharmacy, ordering the six people inside to the ground, and demanding the pills. He ran out of the pharmacy and onto a bicycle. He then returned home and asked his mother for a ride to a store.
Detectives say they recovered 1,524 pills and found the revolver at his house. He did not immediately have an attorney.
