BELLE GLADE, FL (WFLX) - One day after a fatal stabbing at a high school in Coral Gables, a  fight breaks out at a high school.

The brawl at Glades Central High sent several students and a staff members to the hospital after school; police stepped in to break it up. School officials say a total of 11 students were involved in this brawl.

But exactly what they were fighting about is not clear.

Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, a fight broke out in the cafeteria at Glades Central High.

It spilled out into a courtyard. There were 11 boys involved in the fight, and a staff member at Glades Central High tried to break it up but could not. A school police officer showed up, shouted for everyone to stop, and when that didn't work, the officer pulled out the pepper spray and used it on the students who were scuffling.

The fight stopped, and a school district spokesman says four students and the school staff member were taken to the hospital to be "decontaminated" due to the pepper spray.

"They need to stop the violence, sir. They need to stop the violence seriously. How do you think they ought to do that? They gotta start with the children. 'Cause they ain't listening to the parents or the grownups. They don't listen to anybody," said Mary Jones, a Glades Central High parent who was picking up her child at the end of the school day.

A school district spokesman says there were no weapons, and no one was injured in the fight. Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies were called in to assist at dismissal time.

He says the students, all  boys, will face some sort of discipline. He did not know if any of them will face criminal charges.

Glades Central High was not placed on lock down status, and classes were dismissed at the regular time. School police at the scene would not comment on what sparked the fight.
