DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - When police did a prostitution sting Tuesday night in Delray Beach, they reeled in some pretty big fish.

They include a high school teacher at Palm Beach Central High, 64-year-old Lawrence Dailey. A Boynton Beach city employee, 38-year-old Fontaine Watkins. And a Boca Raton dentist,  50-year-old Dr. Samuel Klein. Not the kind of men you'd expect to be out late at night trying to find a hooker.

All of them were snagged in a prostitution bust in the 2500 block of North Federal Highway.

"They approached an officer working in an undercover capacity, offered to pay her cash for sex, and were then taken into custody," said Officer Jeff Messer, Delray Beach Police spokesman.

According to the arrest reports, she told the men she had a room at the Budget Inn on North Federal Highway, and, in each case, she directed them to go to that room. Police then closed in for the arrests.

"It's pretty bad out here, I mean you see it every night," said Jose Chamul, an employee at Ellie's 50's Diner which is next door to the Budget Inn motel.

Chamul says hookers are a common sight on North Federal. "You know, they're walking up and down the street, you know, just wandering."

In his opinion, police need to work even harder to rid the area of prostitutes. "I don't think they're doing enough, actually. I don't see 'em doing, stepping up you know, security. I don't see, I only see an officer here and there. I don't really see much Delray police officers around."

Still, he says, he's glad to see they're making an effort. "Maybe they can just stop it altogether."

Some customers at the restaurant are stunned a high school teacher and dentist were among those arrested for trying to pick up a hooker. "I can't believe it! To me, I can't believe that they would be doing something like that," said one customer.

"It doesn't surprise me that any kind of man would go out and do that. They're all men, and they all have that need, and if the need is out there, they're gonna go find it," said Vincent Grizanti, another customer at the diner.

We could not reach the teacher, the dentist or the city employee for comment Wednesday night.

The teacher, Lawrence Dailey, has bonded out of jail. He teaches computer technology classes, and makes about $75,000 a year.

We were not able to reach anyone from the Palm Beach County School District who could tell us what disciplinary action, if any, they have taken in light of his arrest.
