Accident: Groom shots bride night before wedding

WINTER SPRINGS, FL (WFLX) - A central Florida man who, police believe, accidentally shot and killed his fiance the night before their wedding probably won't face charges.

Sixty-two-year-old John Tabutt told investigators he thought he heard an intruder early Friday morning, so got his gun and fired at something he saw in the dark hallway.

The 'intruder' was actually his 62-year-old live-in fiancee. She died from the gunshot wound. The man was taken into custody and questioned, but, officials say, it appears this was all just a tragic accident. "Right now, I haven't seen anything or given any information that there were any domestic problems at the home. In fact, I've been told they were a great couple together," said an investigator.

The couple had been together four years and was set to get married Saturday morning.
