WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A Palm Beach Lakes High School student was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center after being struck by a car on Congress Avenue, just North of Okeechobee Boulevard, investigators said.

It's not clear at this time if the person was waiting at a bus stop. Congress Avenue remains open to traffic.

This is the second time a teenager has been struck by a car in the morning. On Monday, John Szafram, 15, was waiting at his bus stop on Port St. Lucie Boulevard when he was struck by a car.

Szafran, of Port St. Lucie, suffered a fractured pelvis, bruised spleen and punctured lung after being struck by an unidentified vehicle at 6:09 a.m. investigators said. He was airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the vehicle -- which is expected to have suffered damage to its right quarter panel and hood or windshield.
