RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Tragedy seems to follow the Hughey family from Riviera Beach.

Back in 2006, Tanya Hughey was set on fire and died.

On Wednesday her son, Anthony Hughey, also met a cruel fate.

The 17-year-old was gunned down Wednesday on the 900-block of Avenue 'I'. Someone apparently walked up and pulled the trigger.

His friends drove him to St. Mary's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Fox 29 interviewed Hughey back in April of 2006 after his mother, 38-year-old Tanya Hughey, died following a bizarre attack at her workplace, a Mobil gas station in Riviera Beach.

Her estranged boyfriend doused her with gasoline and lit a match.

She died 43 days later after receiving third degree burns over 90 percent of her body.

The boyfriend died from accidentally burning himself that day.

Hughey's son, 13 at the time, spoke to reporter Al Pefley before his mother succumbed to her grave injuries.

"I love her a lot, and I hope God that he help her, that she is able to come back home," he said in an on-camera interview.

Detectives have not released the circumstances surrounding the shooting yesterday that took the younger Hughey's life.
