Palm Springs boy injured after copying YouTube stunt

PALM SPRINGS, FL (WFLX) - A Palm Springs boy is injured while copying a stunt seen on a YouTube video.

Nine-year-old Ryan Gooding is now out of surgery and recovering in the hospital.

His mother says he was recreating a simple science experiment seen on YouTube. He was holding a much larger bottle, a 2-liter bottle, which caused an even bigger explosion.

Ryan's mom says parents need to monitor what their kids watch on the Internet. "The computer parental controls are going way up and even the TV. Those controls are going way up."

Doctors say if Ryan would have been hit a few inches to the left or the right, he would have lost his vision or had a severe head injury.
