Search for killer continues

JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - The long Thanksgiving holiday weekend has ended, but the search for a killer has not.

Jupiter Police continue to look for 35-year-old Paul Merhige of Kendall, who, they say, gunned down four of his own relatives at a home in Jupiter Thursday night where they had gathered for dinner on Thanksgiving.

The victims included a 6-year-old girl, Makayla Sitton of Jupiter and three adult female relatives. "I can tell you the further we get into it, it was most definitely pre-meditated. And you know, it definitely wasn't spontaneous. He had a plan so I think that makes it even more horrific," said Jupiter Police chief Frank Kitzerow. Police say Merhige bought several guns shortly before the shooting.

From time to time Monday, people stopped by with flowers and food for the Sitton family.

The Jupiter Police Chief says they are working several leads, but he would not go into any specific details.  Also on Monday, Martin County sheriff's deputies searched Jonathan Dickinson State Park near Hobe Sound after getting a tip that Merhige might be there, but nothing was found.
