Airports trying to raise fees

WEST PALM BEACH (WFLX) - At Palm Beach International Airport, air travelers could be slapped with an even bigger fee the next time they fly.

If airports get their way, lawmakers will raise the cap on a fee called the "passenger facility charge."

It's a fee you pay when you purchase a ticket. Right now the charge is $4.50 for each leg of the trip, but airports want to raise the fee to $7.50.

Money from the fees go towards funding the building of runways, terminals and gates.

A Senate committee has voted to keep the cap at $4.50.
