Police: Drug gang busted

By Chuck Weber

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX)-Boca Raton Police, joined Thursday by prosecutors and a DEA agent, said they had broken up a drug gang that liked to brag.

Boca Police say the gang called itself "Yung Thug Government," or "YTG." Police and prosecutors say the ring sold crack, Oxycodone, and Ecstasy, in Boca's Pearl City neighborhood. 12 drug gang suspects were arrested in the past couple days. 11 other suspects are still at large.

A social networking website is where investigators say they found a video of where gang members boasted that a business was good in Boca. "If you got money," a man on the video says, "you know about Pearl City, 'cause Boca's a million dollar spot for the dope, boy."

At a news conference, Boca Police Chief Dan Alexander remarked, "People associated with this organization created a real negative quality of life in that area for some time."

All but two of the 23 suspects are being charged with racketeering, along with individual drug crimes-- adding another 60 years to the potential prison sentence for each of the accused.

Palm Beach County's top prosecutor, State Attorney Michael McAuliffe said the charges are appropriate. "It accurately describes and depicts what the crimes are," said McAuliffe. "They're not distinct, unrelated criminal acts of a drug sale."

McAuliffe added those acts provided the "ground cover" for other crimes in the neighborhood. "And you can see things just disintegrate," he said.
