ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Lee State Prison inmate will spend an extra two years in prison for smuggling cell phones.
Twenty-five year old Michael McRae was serving three years for drug charges when he was charged with giving a convict an item without consent.
Prosecutors say McRae had hidden the cell phone in his anal cavity. Prosecutors were recommending the Judge give his an additional year on his sentenced, but the judge sentenced him to two additional years.
Smuggled cell phones have been a problem at many southwest Georgia state prisons and jails.
