NORTH PORT, FL (WFLX) - Police are now saying an on-duty North Port firefighter ignored an emergency call, so he could keep coaching his son's soccer game.
An internal investigation shows Lieutenant Robert Combs was on-duty when he drove a ladder truck out of his service area to his son's soccer game on November 21.
The report says Combs was coaching the game while two other crew members were with him.
But when they got a call to respond to an emergency, Combs stayed at the field while the two other firefighters took the truck. "It's an anomale that should have not taken place, it did take place, and we're taking appropriate action to make sure this never happens again."
