(WFLX) - Just eight more shopping days left until Christmas, and if you haven't finished or you need to ship, Thursday's the day to get it all done. That's because hundreds of online retailers are helping you by offering free shipping.
The Web site, FreeShippingDay.com, lists many of those online retailers who have declared Friday as the last day that shoppers can order gifts online and have them delivered by Christmas with standard shipping.
Hundreds of sites plan to offer some form of free shipping Thursday with many requiring a minimum purchase amount.
According to Shop.org, an industry trade group, about 62-percent of online retailers require orders to be placed by Friday or before for Christmas delivery. About 34 percent of retailers said their free shipping offers expire on that day.
If you're a dawdler or a procrastinator, the next few days are the pivotal moment of the holiday season in order to ensure that your packages are shipped for arrival in time at the very latest, Christmas Eve. Mail carriers are bracing themselves for a surge of traffic with the country's two biggest shipping companies expecting a busier holiday season.
FedEx's busiest day of the year is Monday. UPS is looking at December 21 as their busiest day.
