Lindsey Vonn, the leader after the downhill portion, made a mistake early in the slalom and didn't finish in what's likely the final race of her Winter Games career.

A dog tossed into a dumpster like a piece of trash, now a year later, you might say the little guy has made quite a recovery.

Bradley, a three year old terrier mix, has been adopted by the head of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control and he is now her pet.

Last year, just a week before Christmas, on December 19, 2008,  Bradley was kicked down a flight of stairs from a second story apartment.  After landing on the ground, authorities say the dog was placed in a plastic trash bag with fast food wrappers, beer cans and cigarette butts, and thrown into a dumpster.

One of its eyes became dislodged, and the dog was so badly bruised and injured it was not expected to survive.

"Aside from being a little bit overweight he's in great shape. He again, he's an extremely happy dog. He is overall a very sweet little dog once he gets to know you," said Dianne Sauve, head of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, who has adopted Bradley.

The culprit who abused the dog, LaBrent Franklin, 28, of West Palm Beach  has since been convicted of animal cruelty and is serving a nine-month sentence.   Sauve says it's disappointing that the  judge did not place any restrictions on Franklin that would prevent him from ever owning a dog again.    As a result, she says, once he gets out of jail there is nothing to stop him from having another pet.
