Hours of rain left some streets under water in Boca Raton Friday morning.
And one elderly driver was in big trouble, when her car stalled out on a flooded road. Imagine. It's 5:30 in the morning and your car stalls out as you're driving through a flooded street.
That's what happened to one elderly woman on Federal Highway in Boca Raton.
Her car wouldn't move, she was stuck and she had no cell phone to call for help.
But luckily for her, a Good Samaritan came along. A man named Rich Dolan, who was on his way to work. "She looked a little nervous, so I called out, you need some help? And she said yeah," Dolan said.
He got the lady out of her car and asked her what he could do to help.
"I asked her where she was coming from and she said she didn't know, but she said this water came out of nowhere and my car stalled," Dolan said. All she could tell him was she lived in Ft. Lauderdale.
Rich says the woman who appeared to be in her seventies, seemed disoriented and she was all alone. "I said I'm gonna call 911 for you. She said oh, please do, you know," Dolan said.
He stood there with her, while waiting for police to arrive. He didn't want to leave her alone.
"I totally felt sorry for her. My first impression was she was an elderly lady, maybe senile, lost and I said I'll hang out with her best I can because who else is gonna help her?" he recalled.
Dolan works as a golf supervisor of outdoor operations at the Boca Raton Resort and Club and has caddied for celebrities such as Bill Clinton and Greg Norman. He's glad he could help.
